Yes, you need to have a Costco membership to get gas at Costco gas using a credit card.
It’s because your membership card must be swiped before you can pay. So, if you don’t have a membership, you can’t get gas.
To get gas, however, you won’t require a Costco membership card if your Costco store card is used.
Does Costco Gas Accept Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay?
Costco now offers NFC (near-field communication) at its gas pump locations.
Customers are able to use contactless options such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay to pay their purchases (as long it’s a Visa card).
You can also use the ‘tap’ feature of your credit and debit cards on the pump.
