Best Leaf Blowers
The Best Cordless Blower
Its 30-minute runtime is one of our longest cordless blowers. This blower is easy to use, has a lot power, and produces a very precise stream of air. However, it is somewhat heavier than corded picks, and also a lot more costly.
Amazon, $299 Lowe’s. If your work requires you to reach beyond the reach of a 50 or 100 foot extension cord, the Ego LB6504 Battery-Powered Power+ 650 CFM Blower is the right choice. The Ego LB5804 has a shorter run-time of 27 minutes on high, which is comparable to its 30 minutes. However, it’s less powerful. The Ego LB5604 doesn’t have the raw leaf-blasting power of the corded models, but in our tests its more focused airstream was better at getting under a dense mat of wet leaves, and its turbo button can produce an extra burst of power (but drains the battery faster). Cost and weight are the down sides. At around 10 pounds, it nearly doubles the Toro’s or Worx’s heft, and at a typical price of around $300, the Ego is very expensive much more expensive than any other cordless handheld we looked at. Ego has the perfect combination of power, portability and ease-of-use. The Ego makes a great investment for anyone looking to build their collection of Ego’s lawn tools including string trimmers and mowers. This new model replaces the Ego LB5804Power+ 580 CFM Blower, which is an older Ego leaf blower.
Although the Ryobi cordless Ryobi can’t match its Ego LB6504 in terms run time or power, it’s still quieter than most and comes with an adjustable handle that allows for more ergonomics.
Home Depot $199*
We recommend Ryobi’s 40470VNM 40V 550 CFM Cordless Leaf Blower if the Ego LB6504 is unavailable. Although it doesn’t have as much power and runtime as the Ego, this leaf blower is still very effective in dry environments. The high points are that it’s very quiet, even for a cordless blower, and the adjustable handle allows for great ergonomics and minimal wrist strain, which is good because the Ryobi is on the heavier side. Its controls don’t look as professional as the Ego. The Ryobi’s run time takes nearly 20 minutes. Ryobi’s single-battery model cost $200 at our time, which is very affordable compared to other cordless blowers. Ryobi has a solid system for lawn tools, but it is not as well-designed as Ego. The battery of this tool doesn’t charge Ryobi drills or any other power tools.
The cordless Worx WG584 is not as powerful as the other cordless options, but it’s lightweight with a long run time.
*The original price of the book was $210.
What is better? Electric or gas leaf blowers
You should consider speed, convenience, cost, etc. when you weigh electric vs. gas.
Handheld gas and battery blowers make light work of leaves. Although the best corded electric blowers can handle large jobs, you will need to keep them within 100 feet from a power source. (Most outdoor extension cords top out at that length.) The disadvantages of gas leaf blowers for outdoor use are that they can’t be moved as easily and weigh more than corded electronics. They also require fueling and maintenance. The cordless electric leaf blower, also known as battery-powered leaf blowers or battery-powered leaf blowers is now more powerful than the gas model. However, they are slower to charge and can only last for 8-30 minutes.
Handheld blowers may also have a vacuum that collects yard debris. This is useful to pick up fallen leaves or take care of any stray animals. However, their small tubes restrict the amount of debris you can vacuum simultaneously, so they are best for small yards where you can bag up any mulched leaves.
While backpack blowers can be more costly than handheld blowers due to their greater power and ability to transfer weight from your arms onto your shoulders and back, they are generally more affordable. A backpack can weigh up to 22 pounds. But, because it is more evenly distributed the weight of the bag will feel lighter than a handheld blower that’s 10 pounds. They are ideal for large lawns. These can be either a conventional gas-powered backpack blower, or a battery powered model. The battery type is relatively new to the field. In our testing, we found that the best batteries can outperform gas in terms of power and sweeping ability.
Have lots of leaves? The best-selling wheeled blowers provide the largest power. The biggest cost of these types is also because they take up the most space, are difficult to maneuver and manage, and have the highest price tag. For large lawns with sloped sides, they are ideal. It’s difficult to push them on hills. If you live near neighbors it is easy for leaves to blow into your neighbor’s yard.

Although fall foliage is something many enjoy, it’s not always something they want in their backyard. While raking leaves can look appealing, it’s not always easy. Many people instead rely on leaf blowers for their lawns, and to avoid being too strenuous.
“A leaf blower is your best friend when it comes to quickly cleaning a space of fall foliage, dust and debris,” said David Steckel, home expert at Thumbtack . A leaf blower is a great tool to clean up debris and leaves from your walkways or porch, as well cleaning out your garage following a renovation. These gardening tools can also be used for removing grass clippings after mowing your lawn and cleaning up debris on sidewalks , driveways and other hard surfaces.
There are many types of leaf blowers available. It all depends on the way you plan to use it. For their suggestions and guidance, we asked lawncare professionals to help us determine the best leaf blower for you.
Some things to think about when looking for a leaf blower
The Best Backpack Leaf Blowers
The blasters that are most effective in clearing the yard were tested.
Backpack leaf blowers are one of the best ways to cope with the inevitable fallout. The backpack leaf blower is far more powerful and portable than any other tool you could carry. Consider investing in a backpack-powered blower for those who value efficiency and convenience while still achieving leaf-moving performance. As part of our fall yard preparation, we have tested many. Please read the following for our thoughts, conclusions, and recommendations.
Consider the following: They make a lot of noise due to the motor and air movement. But they get the job done in a fraction of the time that you would use moving the leaves with a rake or even a powerful hand-held leaf blower.
Backpack leaf blowers make leaf clearing less tiring because, aside from speeding up the process, they take the load off your arm and wrist. It is easier to put the leaf blower down and then move the gas grill or other yard furniture to the side before you resume blowing. They are also heavier machines that can take up more space within your garage.
You can clear leaves faster with more power. But, the flipside is that you’ll need more power. You also need weight. The largest weight gainers reach 30 pounds. That’s quite a bit of weight, and it all depends on what your levels of fitness, age, interest are. If you are able to move with more ease and power, a lighter blower might be a better choice. Also, a stronger blower produces more vibration than a smaller blower. The effort of pushing back against the recoil is tiring.
Next, when considering backpack blowers, think about just how much machine you need and how you like to work. Obviously, big jobs call for bigger and more expensive machines, but there’s no sense in getting a machine that’s overpowered relative to the job. Do you work alone, or with family, friends, and volunteers? Is it possible to use a handheld blower and a leafrake in addition to the backpack? Do you think a mower/bagger should be part of your leaf-clearing equipment? Combining different methods can maximize efficiency while still being cost-effective for many. To make the best purchase, you can use our information and past experiences.
Our Tests: We tested numerous backpack leaf blowers, from those powered by gas to large battery-powered models. Gas models ranged in size from 32 to a massive 79.9cc beast, and battery-powered backpacks were suited for professional-duty to homeowner use. After that, we set to work blowing leaves.
With the machine set to max power, continuous run time was measured for battery-powered units. Accurately measuring air speed was tricky. For this purpose, we bought an MGL Avionics Stratomaster Vega aircraft speed indicator (anemometer), and powered it with a 12-volt DC supply. Our own test apparatus was built, measuring the air speed at six inches distance from the blower tube. The sound level was also recorded at 75 feet and the operator’s location. An erosion test using sawdust was performed to see the effect of blower air on pavement. Taped a large portion of pavement. After covering it with a thin layer, we then blow the leaf blowers horizontally across that section, creating an impression about the form of the stream. Two more unusual tests we used were timing how long it took us to blow leaves out of a test rectangle and, in the case of our largest blowers, whether they’ll skim a brick across pavement (that helps give us an idea of just how concentrated its air stream is).
Not only did we record data but also evaluated features like the ergonomics of their handles, visibility of gas tanks, comfort, adjustability, and visibility of fuel. Here’s the list of eight leaf blowers who came in first.
Choose The Right Type Of Leaf Blower For You
You can convert a gas-powered leaf blower/vac into a mulching mower by purchasing everything that you will need. Most of the best blowers have a metal impeller, which can shred both leaves & twigs. You can find out the blower’s horsepower in terms of cubic feet per min (cfm), and miles per hour. Cfm, which is an accurate representation of how much work the machine can perform, gives a more precise picture. Manufacturers provide both measurement and weight.
The maintenance of electric blower-vacs is much less than that required for gas engines. These models can be converted from blowing to vacuuming with a simple flip of a switch. (The gas-powered versions have to be refitted for each conversion.)
The cordless blowers make leaves move with less noise and emissions than the gas blowers. They don’t need to be tied to any cord. They also have less power, so they’re best for a quick “sweep” to clean up after mowing.
With the gas power, backpack blowers can go anywhere without straining your arms like a handheld blower. The backpacks are comfortable and can be used for many hours. Handheld blowers become uncomfortable after approximately 45 minutes.
The decibel (dB) readings for all blowers were taken from 50 feet away. It’s quite a distance, so ear protection should be worn by anyone who uses any machine.
