Can You Drop Off Usps At Ups In 2022? (Your Full Guide)
Perhaps you have heard of the FedEx-USPS business partnership, in effect since 2001.
However, what do you think about UPS and USPS. Is there a working relationship between them that allows the two to be interchangeable?
Do you have the ability to send USPS parcels at UPS? Are you able to do this before? This is what I found.
Can You Drop Off USPS At UPS In 2022?
It is currently not in the customers’ best interest to leave USPS packages at UPS unless they are members of UPS Mail Innovations Returns. UPS attempts to make sure that packages are delivered by USPS in error if they’re dropped off incorrectly.
What happens if you put a USPS package in a UPS Drop Box
The short answer is that your package should be returned to USPS within a reasonable time, although it may take up to a few additional business days.
Furthermore, the package while being moved is at the discretion of the handlers and cannot be tracked or found.
Now let’s get going.
Let’s say you run around getting the shipments out. Then you drop off a USPS box at your local UPS dropbox.
It is not a good idea to reach into the garbage bin again, so UPS can get it in the hands of the proper shipper.
And the good news? UPS generally delivers on-time, and with very little disruption to your expected delivery time.
This is because these kinds of mistakes are way more common than you might think.
These common errors have been avoided by all major shippers UPS, FedEx, and USPS. They routinely go to pick up packages intended for them.
It could also be because the other shippers seem interchangeable.
They’re not. Despite your continued success in using UPS to drop off USPS, you are ultimately annoying the recipient.
You can safely add an extra day to allow for time required to transfer ownership from UPS to USPS.
And in fact, the transfer might take even longer; so you’re just prolonging your recipient’s wait time.
This makes it worse as the UPS package drop-offs do not leave you with proof of ownership.
It is nearly impossible to retrieve a lost package if it has been dropped off by mistake at UPS. There are no other options for finding the package, such as its travel history.
The best thing for both you and your recipient is to get rid of the UPS and drop your USPS package with USPS.
Their scans will take place much quicker and they’ll be easy to find if they do go missing.
Is it possible to put the USPS package in UPS Access Point
UPS Access Points can’t be substituted for dropping off your parcel at the Post Office.
UPS Access Points are UPS-partner retailers that accept UPS packages and businesses that pick up and drop them off. They also tend to have manned service desks.
There is one near my Kohl’s, so you can pick up your order or drop it off at the front desk.
So while it’s easy enough to mistakenly (or otherwise) drop off a USPS package in a UPS drop box, with a human at the UPS Access Point, the box is less likely to be accepted.
If the associate isn’t really paying attention, they’ll catch you using the wrong shipper.
Especially since a USPS barcode is not the same as a UPS one.
Are You Considering Dropping a UPS Box at Your Post Office?
Although the shippers may not be interchangeable as I said, experience has taught them that they will make mistakes and send packages to each other.
So if you drop off a UPS box with the Postal Service, you can expect much the same as when the situation is reversed.
UPS will ultimately come and collect their lost parcels. However, the UPS box in la la land is untraceable.
There’s one caveat to the “Don’t Drop Your UPS Boxes at the Post Office” rule.
This applies if the parcel was sent to you by a participant in UPS Mail Innovations Returns.
This program is specifically geared toward regular shippers (small ecommerce businesses would be one example) who also deal in regular returns.
It seems to be the latest edition of UPS Returns Flexible Access 2010, which UPS launched in 2010.
This allows recipients to return their packages with ease. The shipper will provide the purchased label. Packages can also be dropped off at any Post Office.
The mail carrier can take it or leave it in the mailbox.
The best thing about this program? It scans your parcel immediately after receipt. This allows you to follow it on every step of its journey.
However, this is not the case in which it would be a good idea to submit a UPS parcel to the Postal Service.
Our posts include information regarding theft of USPS parcels, FedEx vs USPS and how USPS packages may be insure.
No matter how convenient UPS might seem, it is not advisable that customers use UPS to deliver their USPS package.
UPS and USPS may be able to deliver parcels, but they are not traceable until the shipper has scanned them in.
Do I have to Bring Up Usps for the Guys?
Yes. You can drop USPS labeled parcels off at UPS shops.
Where Can I Drop Off A Prepaid Usps Package?
You do not need to line up to drop off packages that have domestic shipping labels. If they are in good shape, the packages can be left at post office mail drop spots or blue collection mailboxes. A few Post Offices might also offer a spot at the counter to store prepaid packages.
