Why do USPS Delivered Says There is No Package
If a package is marked “Delivered”, but it’s not there, this could indicate that the USPS scanner has failed or that the carrier placed the package in an obscure location. Or that they accidentally gave the package to someone else. If none of these circumstances are the reason for your missing package contact your local postal office to locate it.

Why Is My Package Not Here But It Says Delivered?
- If you see a tracking number that says “Delivered”, but nothing is visible, it could mean the USPS has marked your package prematurely as “Delivered”.
Therefore, you’ll likely see your package the next day, so be patient and keep an eye out for it.
Your package may be missing if it has been delivered by an alternate mail carrier and doesn’t know your delivery location.
You can confirm this by looking around the mailbox, in the trees, under the stairs and anywhere else a package may be found.
It may also be worthwhile to ask your neighbours if you received any mail with your name in it. Because of unfamiliar routes, mail carriers may misinterpret apartment and building numbers.
What can I do if my Package is not Here but It says Delivered?
GPS is used by the USPS to transport packages. This can cause a package to be marked as “Delivered” prematurely.
You will usually need to wait for the package to arrive in your mailbox another day.
If you haven’t received your package in more than one day and still haven’t checked your neighbor’s property or asked them about it, you should contact the local USPS Post Office.
The manager on duty or head postmaster should speak with you. These people will be able call the carrier for your route and let them know what is happening.
USPS may be unable or unwilling to help you if your package is still not showing up 7 days later. File at the nearest post office or online. You may also call USPS Customer Care at 1-800-275-8777.

Missing mail cases are packages that have been scanned, but not placed on a vehicle or forgotten.
Therefore, starting a Missing Mail request resolves these issues and gets the package where it needs to be.
Is it possible for USPS to mark packages as delivered before they are delivered?
USPS marks packages as delivered in most cases before they send them.
- However, post service audits found various scan errors that caused undelivered packages being marked “Delivered”.
The first error occurs when a package has been scanned in to the USPS system. If an employee uses the “Delivered” setting instead of the “Accepted”, then the package will be considered delivered, even though it was only put in the mail.
The scan error can occur when a postal carrier scans a package at an address other than the one designated for delivery (e.g. A house, apartment, or business can be scanned as “Delivered” by a mail carrier.
When a carrier scans the parcel as “Delivered”, it will show the customer the status, “Delivered” and “Delivery Attempted”.
Unfortunately, scan errors are more common than you’d think.
An audit by the USPS revealed that 191 package packages, out of 1,100, had been scanned as delivered. However they were in the delivery unit awaiting to be dropped off.
Why does USPS label my package delivered even though it has just been shipped?
A USPS tracking number may show “Delivered” even though the item was created or sent.
This message may have been sent by USPS to a recycled number.
If the number appears to be recycled, check your tracking information. If your tracking number was recycled, you’ll usually find a destination address and delivery time that don’t correspond with the origin of your package.

A high volume shipping through USPS results in recycled tracking numbers. It’s common for USPS tracking numbers to be recycled with more than 20,000,000 packages being delivered each day.
Therefore, if you think you’re dealing with a recycled tracking number, the best thing you can do is wait.
Once the stamp is scanned by the postoffice, all tracking data will be corrected to reflect this correct information.
Your just-shipped parcel may also say “Delivered”, because USPS misscanned the package.
Your package will appear as delivered when the USPS scanner is set to “Delivered” rather than “Accepted”.
This means that the tracking number will not update when the label is scanned again.
However, a USPS customer service representative should be able to provide you with updates by checking their internal tracking database.
