Walmart Took VSP&EyeMed With It In 2022
Walmart does take VSP and EyeMed, however, they are not considered in-network as of 2022. Typically, Walmart customers with VSP and EyeMed insurances must have out-of-network benefits as part of their plan and will submit out-of-network reimbursement forms to their specific provider after their appointment. VSP and EyeMed will not typically cover outof-network services in the same manner as their customers with EyeMed.
VSP and EyeMed are in-network with Walmart
Walmart does not consider EyeMed or VSP to be in-network.
Because both plans are outside-of-network they will not be available to all customers.
If you want to get reimbursement for your visit, an out-of network add-on must be included with your plan.
Important to remember that these insurance policies consider Walmart Vision Centres out-of network providers. This means you’ll likely end up paying more over the long-term.
There is a good chance that your visit won’t be as discounted as if you were to see an inside-network provider.
In most cases, the total cost for your entire visit will be paid upfront.
After you pay and receive your total bill, you should hold onto the receipt, because you will need it to file a vision reimbursement claim with your insurance.

Walmart Vision Center: What does VSP cover?
The scope of VSP at Walmart’s Vision Center depends on the plan you have.
A wellness exam can be done to evaluate your vision, test for eye diseases and help you purchase glasses and contacts.
However, reimbursements for glasses or contacts are likely to be smaller than those received at an in-network optical center.
You’ll also miss out on special perks only for services within your network.
EyeMed At Walmart Vision Centre: What Covers It?
Depending on the plan, your EyeMed vision insurance coverage will differ in Walmart coverage.
Make sure that your out-of network add-on is included with your plan. If you don’t, then you can pay the entire cost of your visit and receive no reimbursement.
As with VSP you can also expect to get any services offered at Walmart Vision Center, such as glasses/contacts ordering and wellness exams.
And again, as with VSP, you can expect the discount on those to be less than if you went to an in-network provider, and you will miss out on in-network-only member perks.
How to File a Vision Insurance Reimbursement claim at Walmart
VSP, EyeMed and other providers have made the process of filing claims out-ofnetwork straightforward and easy.
Both insurers can be contacted via their websites.
Keep your receipt close at hand. You can ask the Walmart Vision Center for an itemized receipt if you do not have one.
For the purpose of processing your claim, both insurance companies will ask you to provide details about what services you had and how much each cost.
You will then need to photograph the receipt and attach it as an attachment to your online claim.
The claim form can be printed and filled out by you. A copy of the receipt will also be included.
Walmart aims to make the process for out-of-network claims easy on their end; as such, they have included the VSP and EyeMed claims addresses here.
